Genesis Lives!

Some of you may remember about two years ago a game by the Name of Beggar Prince being released for the GenesisThe game was a port of a Chinese game from 96. Well, that team (Super Fighter Team) is porting another game...Legend of Wukongapparently a port of another Chinese game, due out this year. Finally we have Pier Solar The first original game to be marketed in the US in over 10 years (in other words, not a port of anything). I'm actually more excited about Pier Solar then a number of current-gen games that are coming out this year.Genesis Lives!
Just curious who do they expect to buy these games and where are they gonna sell them at?Genesis Lives!

To reach that goal we have probably the most powerfull

putting all their love for c|assic gaming into great
music and extremely detailed graphics,
and a dramatic plot to offer players all the excitement
they expect from a good story-based RPG.

These companies should really be striving for release on Virtual Console, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network...Look at how much press Mega Man 9 got.
Is that what they did with Mega Man 9? I never looked...But the point remains the same.
As far as I know, both grgoups are useing the same legal loop-hole (or a similar one) as Accolade and Tengen did on the Genesis and NES (respectively) to publish those games without licensing them through Sega. I believe Sega isn't very worried about it (unlike the afore mentioned companies...there really isn't much money to be made in ok-ing the licence to publish on the Genesis. I think that Super Fighter Team actually contacted Sega and got some technical help for some things. Releasing these games on the VC would introduce a whole new layer of licencing issues that would need to be addressed. For the record, on their forums, the guys making Pier Solar stated that they wouldn't mind seeing their game show up on the VC. Can't say i know what the other group thinks. Also keep in mind that these aren't the only guys doing stuff like this:retrozone.comand then there's this:http://bobrost.com/nes/index.php
Information like this fuels my gaming tank.
Just curious who do they expect to buy these games and where are they gonna sell them at?
They sell them on their website, and plenty of people buy them, not just collectors (they are released in small runs) but also people who want to play a new game for an old system.
i'd love to do snes games. i wish there were EZ dev kits for snes games, something the average joe like me could use to write snes games. that would rawk, i'd open up my own game company.
...I just went back to Eidolon's Inn for the first time in god knows how long because of your post...and they want 35 (or 50) dollars for a fan-developed Genesis game (or...a Sega CD game with extra goodies...)? It's like JunkerHQ/Policenauts.net charging for their translation....except they would be selling something that is, you know, AWESOME. Though that would also be copyright infringement. Anyway, It says something about ''portraying the community...'' and ''..a new 16 bit game..by fans for fans.'' That's interesting, and I would be excited about it too...if they didn't want me to pay $35 dollars. It's just...strange. You always forget about the niche gaming sites until they do something gonzo.
