why are the N64's graphics so fuzzy?

just dug out my old N64 (yellow%26blue pokemon flavoured...yum). switch it on and everything's fuzzy and drained of colour. so i plug in a proper RGB instead, but it's still got a dustry/fuzzy feel to the graphics. anyone know why?also, does anyone know which games for the system have aged well..? it might only be a matter of opinion, but...already i don't feel it for SM64.i have a small range: both zeldas, perfect dark, pokemon stadium, and SM64. why are the N64's graphics so fuzzy?
If you're playing that on an HDTV, that's why.why are the N64's graphics so fuzzy?
If you're playing that on an HDTV, that's why.
another reason is that almost all n64 games dont support 16:9, so your image is being stretched.change your settings to 4:3 and see whether that makes a difference.
i'm not playing on a HDTV :-0 and it is in 4:3.
my tv is like a 20'' and its not fuzzy
First generation anti aliasing. First generation 3d. I find such graphics basically intolerable. I'd rather play SNES.
Try changing your plug or tighten your connections.
If you've been playing current or even last gen games then you're just not used to the ''bad'' graphics. Play some more and your eyes will adjust. Early 3D games are very crude by today's standards.
Such a boring console with early shi*ty 3D graphics. The only game that I want to play again on the N64 some day is Goemon's Great Adventure. And maybe Super Mario 64.
yep, the n64 had pretty shyte graphics... even back then... but mine isn't blurry.
basically all N64 games look like they have been covered in Vaseline. Nintendo's fault really. It's how they built their machine. I don't want to explain. just find it on the web.
yep, the n64 had pretty shyte graphics... even back then... but mine isn't blurry.
Yes, but the PSX was much worse... imo... and yeah, n64 is blurry, or maybe just different definitions of blurry... Zelda:ooT is terrible in that regard, I always thought it was the anti aliasing. First gen 3d. Its like going back and playing atari 2600.. well maybe not quite. lol
Ahahaha makes me laugh, you complain about the N64 look at the ps1 and play gran turismo 2 that was Psones best looking game and as you turn around a corner you can litteraly count teh number of polygons in a car because its so dam blocked up the cars edges deform in the turn, i used tot too think Psone was better but seeing now that I can play ocarina of time and think it looks decent and great for a 90's game but no way i could touch a psone game and enjoy it very much due to teh blocking up they have the only psone games that dont have this huge issue would be Crash bandicoot 2 and Warped and Medievil 1 and 2.I dont understand what fuzziness tho the graphics arent as sharp as todays or Ps2's day but by no means are they unberable.I have a quesiton does the psone look better to you? if so I think there is some other issue with the N64?
I agree with the guy above. The graphics are fine. The PS1 had a much bigger problem with graphics with the low amount of polygons on screen.
Ogre Battle 64 should still look good on the N64. Check that game out.
It has to do with the game that your playing some of the games are clear others not so much....
There's a very easy answer to this... most N64 games are natively in 320x240 resolution, not 640x480.
Take a look at Conkers Bad Fur day that game still looks decent and for a N64 game Just WOW!.FUll Voice Acting, it had full moving shadowing on everything like on Ps2 games. It ran at 640x480 and it never had any stutters.
Mainly because cartridges didn't allow for high resolution textures. I believe the limit was 64x64 per texture.
when i play ps1 compared to 64i prefer smooth textures of the 64 over pixelly graphics of ps1
