Final Fantasy III (PS)

Ok, so first we have the original ones on PS, VII, VIII and IX. Then came Final Fantasy Origins (I and II), Final Fantasy Chronicles (IV) and Final Fantasy Anthology (V and VI) to bridge the gap. But what about Final Fantasy III? Anyone know anything? ThanksFinal Fantasy III (PS)

Well, you gotta remember that FFI and II were first graphically remade (with some battle modifications) for the WonderSwan Color. Those versions were ported to PS1 and later GBA, after Square and Nintendo made up. Also, you have your orders wrong-- Anthology came out first, then Chronicles, and finally Origins. Also, Anthology came out before IX did on PS1. Final Fantasy III was supposed to be graphically remade for the WSC as well (and likely would have had a subsequent PS1 port), but the porting team ran into too many snags since the game used a lot of custom code that could only work on the Famicom. It couldn't be ported without rewriting the original code that the game ran on, and rather than invest in a complete remake for 16-bit graphics, they simply ported FFIV to WSC instead (this is actually what the GBA port is based on).The master plan was for all of the classic Final Fantasies (pre-VII) to be playable on the same system, but the WSC wasn't powerful enough to handle FFV or VI, and FFIII couldn't be ported to anything. Therefore, they decided to port FFI, II, IV, V, and VI to the GBA, and give FFIII a complete overhaul in 3D for the DS. The end result is that FFI-VI are all playable on the DS, since the DS is backwards compatible with the GBA, so if you want to play FFIII, either get a Japanese Famicom and a copy of that cart, or get it on the DS (which is the better version regardless, as they made significant story and character improvements as well as some job rebalancing).
And to this day as a old ff gamer I think they should of finished it with 3 CAUSE DS WILL FOREVER SUCK AT 3D FF.It just don't work.Something like Final Fantasy Secrets would of been nice(Thats FF3 and Secret of Mana,or Radical Dreamers)....

i'm still upset with the ds ff3. there's only one screen in use unless it's a cut scene; that kinda defeats the purpose of the ds and tells me they rushed development. there's also no reward for leveling jobs up to 99... like say.. being able to retain some abilities for that job... that also tells me they rushed development. merry chirstmas 2006.but, now i have them all, muahahahahahahaha!
