great find or not?

Sunday I went to the flea market for the third time since I discovered it two months ago. And this time there was someone different there with a bunch of random old stuff from every part of classic gaming and some newer things like PS2 not Xbox. So I picked up Darkcloud, Waverace 64, Legend of Zelda: L inks awakening(the orignal) and my second orignal gameboy since it came with everything, papers included, just missing the cardboard box was all. It was only $30 for all that. Then before I left I had a small convome: ''So I noticed you had a SNES Scope 6 game.Have you by any chance seen a real SNES scope?''
guy: ''Yep I own one right now. But its back at home''
me: ''O.O could I buy it off you?''
guy: ''sure it would be like $20''
me: ''are you effing with me?''
guy: ''uhh no...''
me: ''So you have a ctual working SNES scope with everything''
guy: ''yep manuals are even included''So that is how it went and I got his contact information. Called him upyesterday and picked the sucker up for $30 since I had to add $10 in for the SNES scope 6 game. And it actually works like a charm and better then most light guns I have ever owned in my life. So was this a great find or not and was it a decent deal?great find or not?
it would have been even better if nintendo had made more than like 3 games for the super scope. good buy for a collector though. i used to have a superscope and the couple games they had for it were real fun. great find or not?
$30 seems a bit steep, especially since it goes for much less on eBay. I'm a fan of digging up old hardware, though, so congrats. Remember that if you truly enjoy a purchase, the amount you paid isn't really relevant.
IMO, awesome find is an understatement. Honestly, although you might have gotten a better price online, buying old stuff like that in person is better because 1) you get to see firsthand the condition it's in, and 2) you don't have to pay shipping, which in the end will save you money. So yeah, definitely a great find!
It's an OKAY deal for 30$..but some of that stuff isn't worth it, BUT, for someone who enjoys find old games, hardware, etc..I think it was a good idea for you to get it before it's gone.
well found out later that the guy used to have a store where he had all this old stuff. But being pushed out by bigger more popular stores. He didn't really have a chance so most of his stuff is leftovers. And he is fine with me coming over for like half a hour this weekend to dig through boxes and make deals with him on stuff that I like or intrested in getting. Will be even more amazed if I find a power glove this time xP

All 10 are good and have good length. Except maybe for the second one. Fire Emblem 7 and Fire Emblem 8 are both good. All of them are goodEven the very early ones
1 and 2 should be passed on, 1 is far too outdated and 2 is just plain terrible. Never played 3, but if you want FE3 you might as well wait for the DS remake. FE4 is my favorite FE. The game is by far the most ''epic'' out of all the FEs, the battle maps are twice as big as any other FE and the storyline spans several generations. FE5 is very good and has probably my favorite gameplay in the whole series, however... this game is ludicrously hard and I still have not beat it. Do NOT get this unless you can beat all the American FEs on hard mode without breaking a sweat. FE6 is a great game, pretty much the same thing as FE7 except a little harder.
I have never played FE 1-6, unfortunately. :(I really want to though!

Well the new DS Fire Emblem is a remake of one, I don't know if that is leaving Japan though. I don't think two is supposed to be that good. I forgot about three, but I think the first half was a remake of one, I don't know if this is included in the DS game. Four and five are usually considered the best in the series and the hardest, both are great, the games also take place in the same world with five being set in the middle of four. Fire Emblem 6 is what happened after Fire Emblem 7 and is supposed to be good.

Fire Emblem 4 is what I hail as the greatest game ever, so yea, you have me nailed down. And Fire Emblem 6 is OK, but feels unrefined.
So, none of the early FE games were released in English, right? Have all of you played them in Japanese, or found an English translation ''somewhere'' :P

It was like soccer with robots and you could modify your robots and stuff or something...cant remember ps1 game
Uhhh.. dont remember anything like that. There was a game called League Of Pain where you threw the ball to other players and tried to score goals kinda like soccer(only not with your feet). You could improve the stats of the guys as you played. They were not robots though, they were humans and aliens and stuff... cant remember ps1 game

• Quake 2 for PS1 or N64?

Which is the better version? I already know that the N64 version has completely different levels (which may or may not be a good thing) and Expansion Pak enhancements, but I'd like a public opinion.Quake 2 for PS1 or N64?
I never played the N64 version, but the PS1 version is excellent. At the time, people didnt think they could pull it off. Wish I still owned it.Quake 2 for PS1 or N64?
Agreed. I just played the ps version and it has got to be the best fps on that system. Sorry...I didn't play the N64 version.
I own all 3 versions. PC, N64, and the PS1. The N64 version has better graphics, but the PS1 version stays closer to the PC game. I'd say get both as they are really 2 different games.
I own the PS1 copy only cause the 64 has a few mega awsume shooters and i like the sony's controllers better for FPS but either version for Quake II will be a blast
The PS1 version is close to the PC one.The N64 has new levels, it's a different game.
N64!Best graphics4 player multiplayerAll new missions
i never played the n64 version. but i had a great time with the ps1 version. to me it is the best fps for the ps1.

N64 Expansion Pack w/ NTSC N64 console?

Wanted to ask some advice as to whether i should get a N64 expansion pack for my n64 console (NTSC region) but if i buy an expansion pack for it here in the UK would that be wise? I wouldnt think inserting additional RAM into console would make much difference regionally thinking, since when imo as RAM had different regional types?N64 Expansion Pack w/ NTSC N64 console?
I dont know if region compatability will be an issue, things like controllers are fine as far as I know and I assume it will work but I can not garuntee that it will.It doesnt make loads of difference, only a few games like Donkey Kong 64 and one of the Zelda games use it major titles wise but other games may do.N64 Expansion Pack w/ NTSC N64 console?
If you're gonna buy Perfect Dark, you'll need it. You can't play the single player without it and if I remember correctly, you can only play like 2 player death match if you don't have it. And I don't think you can add bots unless you have it.Theres a racing game that lets you run play it in high res mode if you have it.
There are alot of games that need the expansion pak donkey kong 64 perfect dark. There won't be compatibility issues. I can garentee
Yeah I have Perfect Dark as i got as a christmas gift some years ago but the multiplayer was fun nontheless. Actually feel as though I might have missed out on playing the single player as I played Goldeneye 007 and to miss out on playing PD really is out of the question :P

The bigger problem is writing down all the different digimon titles and trying to price them out.Luckily, I've been using a few online helpers for price differentials. Like you said, I can't spend $40 for Front Mission 3 if I can find it for $22 elsewhere.
I just want to get all the games for PS and PS2 that I can quickly jump into and have fun. My library is more for entertainment than for collection purposes. I try to keep it to games that have aged well gameplay wise. I think about 40-50 games for each would do it for me. New, used, disc only--it doesn't matter to me as long as they work.

Sega Saturn Disk Error? Help?

Well I just got my Sega Saturn off ebay and I seem to be having disk errors. Regular Audio CD's work just fine, but the game I recieved with the console (Tomb Raider) doesn't seem to work at all. It just says the drive is empty, but it does play regular audio cd's if they arent scratched. Sometimes it wont read the disk but I just restart it and it plays.Could it just be the game is messed up since it still manages to play cd's? Any help? I'm thinking of buying a lens cleaner but any help would be great.Sega Saturn Disk Error? Help?
Unfotunately it could be the laser drive. Even if it reads CDs, it might not have the power or be misadjusted to properly boot up and run Saturn games.Try to instert the game disc with the tray open then close it and see if the CD icon changes to the Saturn icon.Sega Saturn Disk Error? Help?
It's something with the laser. I put the console upright so it sits on the constrol slots and it read the game and played it, but when I lay it down it doesn't seem to work
I got it to work by standing it on it's front side *Where the controllers plug into* then I just lay it down correctly and it works, but other than that it's still the same. Maybe it got tossed around when it was being shipped? Is there anyway I can fix it without buying another one?

Your laser is misadjusted, that's why it works only when you put it on another position.Depending on how worn your laser is (or isn't) with a proper adjustment it might end up working like new, or it might just give you a little more time of proper use.

Sigh.... *shoots self*, Now i'm just undecided on what type of feedback to give to the seller on ebay since he stated it was in perfect working condition. It could of been tossed around while it was being shipped, although it was well protected. oh well, thanks anyways
I feel your pain about ebay. I would contact the seller before leaving feedback.
I don't think it could've been shipping issue. They need to have dropped it totally and hard for the laser to be affected. It's just too unlikely, Most probably the seller sold it to you that way.My advice if you plan to buy another Saturn, buy a Japanese one. Japanese Saturns are newer since they were manufactered more in Japan. They also have better and longest lasting laser drives.Buy a Japanese Saturn and a ST-Key and you're set.
Funny thing is he even left me a postive feedback before i even got the item. I contacted him, but i'm sure he wont say it was broken when he shipped it. Well I don't know about importing them but I got my JP Saturn for 2700 Yen (like $22) and it came in the box with two controllers and all the necassary hook-ups. I'm sure aside from shipping, the cost can't be much different.

Bah all this talk makes me want to hunt down a HiSaturn again...
I'm not really sure for how much they go for, but they're a much better purchase than an US or EU one.As far as I know there were Saturn systems manufactered in 2000. Those models would be the ideal ones to get. The Derby version seems to be overly popular and easy to find.

• Nes.. vs. Ps.. Innovation?

I want to know your opinions which was more innovate the Nintendo 64 or The Sony Playstation. I figure that the gameplay and controls for the N64 were top of the line for that time in video games. The Playstation put a brand new face to the gaming industry with there cutting edge graphics. Even know that the controls and game play lacked. Which was more innovative in your minds.?Nes.. vs. Ps.. Innovation?
The N64 had better graphics and introduced rumble to home consoles. The PS help user in the era of disc media instead of older cartridges.Nes.. vs. Ps.. Innovation?
As far as hardware goes, the N64 brought rumble and analogue control and the PS brought CD storage making it the first video game console to be a ''multimedia device'' since it could play your music CDs....Actually, strike that part about the PlayStation and CDs. I don't know what I was thinking. The Saturn was out before the PS and used CDs, not to mention the SEGACD addon to the Genesis. In that case, I'm not so sure the PS hardware was very innovative at all. OK, I guess they eventually implemented dual analogue control. That was a good thing. As for games, the N64 finally got true 3d platforming right with Mario 64 and helped put real FPSs on consoles with Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. The PS1 put JRPGs into the American popular consciousness. Not really innovative, but pretty darn important.I would have to say that, overall, the N64 was more innovative. However, the PlayStation had a much larger library of good games. Which is more important to the consumer?
personally I like the PS better than N64 in about every way. You can get the Dualshock controller for the PS1, which has dual analog sticks and better rumble(N64 just has the one ugly controller with ok rumble and 1 stick). but the N64 does have a good library of exclusive games. I just dont think it really was that innovative. The fact they were still using cartridges really limited the size of the games and the amount of music/video you could have. Games like Wipeout, RE2, or Tony Hawk Pro Skater play WAY better on the PS1 if you ask me.
N64First to have Analog thumbstick.Had the first Rumble Pak Feature Best graphics for the time Introduced key Nintendo franchises into the world of 3D: Starfox, Mario, Zelda etc. Sold 33 million Units Worldwide PS1Brang CD based Disks to the mainstreamHad a wide variety of games at lower production/sales costs then the N64. Introduced Key Sony Franchises such as: Tekken, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo etc.Sold 102 million Units Worldwide I think the N64 was the more 'innovative' console overall... But there's no denying the vast amount of awesome games the Playstation had.
i think that playstation was the innovation about videogames. you cant visist ibexmatch and see a match nintendo 64 vs Playstation 1 http://www.ibexmatch.com/buscarpost.php?Nintendo%2064-vs-PlayStation%201%26cdpost=23
I think the Playstation was the most innovative system.
I think it's the N64. A lot of great games came from this like SM64, Mario Kart 64, Smash Bros., LoZ:Oot, Loz:MM, Perfect Dark, Goldeneye 007 and Banjo Series.

Another Greatest Hit: Mana Khemia (PS2)

Typo or otherwise, both Gamestop and Amazon have been listing Mana Khemia for $19.99, the current red tag for PS2 games. This will apparently happen on October 28th, just a month after the last wave of GH's. NIS's latest game adds to Okami, Disgaea, Odin Sphere, and Maximo: Army of Zin in the newest batch to get a special print. I can confirm that all those titles have hit retail (even Okami, which seems to be hidden away in storerooms) and I would make the case that most of these would be a worthy addition to any PS2 gamer's collection. Please, we need to stop the scalpers. Keep on the lookout for more unexpected greatest hits, since the well doesn't seem to be dry yet.Another Greatest Hit: Mana Khemia (PS2)
That's great, but the trouble is I personally hate the ugly red tags Sony uses for the best sellers. It's almost as if they're saying, ''Oh fine, we'll lower the price but we'll make the box art a little uglier in exchange! Ha!''.

I'm sure it doesn't bother people who just want to play the game, but I like my boxes looking pretty.Another Greatest Hit: Mana Khemia (PS2)
I think it is just a reprint because it seems very unlikely that Mana Khemia sold enough to get a GH release.
Looks good I may have to check it out.
Sorry to sound like a noob, but I've never heard of this game before. Is it an RPG I guess?
Sorry to sound like a noob, but I've never heard of this game before. Is it an RPG I guess?
Yep. Nearly 80% what I talk about involves RPG's or rare games. Mana Khemia is considered both right now, but a reprint will drive the price point closer to saturation; thus driving down scalper price. Here is a video that will show both storyline and gameplay footage. It's basically the tutorial. This is the english version, but most people prefer Japanese VA's on low-budget RPG's.
Does anyone know if the PSP version is coming to N.A? That's the copy I want.
Does anyone know if the PSP version is coming to N.A? That's the copy I want.
It will on January 9th. For $10 more than the reprint version.Which is another head scratcher.
Mana Khemia? Greatest Hits? Really? Not that I'm complaining, but it seems like an odd choice. Plus, one of my local stores still seems to have the game in stock for some reason. :?
So this is part 4 in the atelier iris series?

i just bought part3 and its amusing as a inbetween snack, very lighthearted to just put your brain on standby and just play away, good way to unload.
So this is part 4 in the atelier iris series?
No, Gust somehow went the way Atlus did with their SMT series.Mana Khemia is a series on its own (well, actually it has a sequel), but it is part of the Atelier series as well.Atelier Iris is as much a spin-off as Mana Khemia is, but the lore itself is still related.

To anyone who's played Tales of Legendia ...

I was wondering if the world map camera has ever started spinning on you for no reason? I managed to stop it, but I don't understand why it happened in the first place.

Did anyone have a Saturn??

Back in my younger days in the mid-late 90's when the Playstation and N64 were all the rage, there was one little console that was left out of the spotlight, the Sega Saturn. A lot of kids at my Elementry School had an N64 (as did I) and I knew a few kids that had a PS (I got one later on) but never in my entire life did I find anyone who had a Saturn. Despite being made by a well known and popular company, I think the Saturn was one of the most obscure and unpopular consoles ever. It was forever trapped in the Playstation's shadow...Sure it had a few gems like Nights, Panzer Dragoon Saga, etc but I think the rest of its library was pretty forgettable. I think that Sega tried too hard to push it in the US and make it look ''cool''http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Lqhu1wCpPkhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQW6-cbnHvYYeah Sega's commercial's were very fanboy lol. Eventually things got so bad for Sega that they started dropping the price on the Saturn by a lot and even including it with free games http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pSklkNbT10%26NR=1That was when you could tell that Sega was getting desperate. After that Sega decided to pull the plug on the system altogether and start working on the Dreamcast. Its a real shame too, because I think the Saturn had at least another few years left in it. Did anyone here have the console? What did you like about it? Did anyone have a Saturn??
I think the Saturn had at least another few years left in it. Did anyone here have the console? What did you like about it?
The Saturn was half dead when it was born, Sega never fully supported it and it died from neglect and high costs. I've only met one other person who owned a Saturn when they were released. Besides having a great controller, the Saturn had completely amazing games, although 90% of them went ignored in America. Did anyone have a Saturn??
I still have it and I think it's one of the greatest consoles ever. The few great Saturn games are worth a lot more to me than thousands of PS1 games. That's only my personal opinion, of course.
SATURN in the united states was a miserable failure. Aside from a few good games the Saturn was much more appreciated in Japan. Personally I have the U.S. and Japanese console that I enjoy mostly everyday.
I Loved the Saturn it was very underrated. It had some great games and my fav were panzer dragoon and guardian heroes.Oh yeah i liked the crow even tho most people thought it sucked.
I still have my Saturn but it's not hooked up
Sega Saturn was 500$ when it came out. I remember this because I was trying to save for one.Games used to be 60$ back then, and we complain about that price today. Sega Genesis games were 50$.
I never owned a Saturn-I mostly stuck to the N64 in those days. Hell, I still haven't owned a Sega console to this day. (Of course, I've played on other people's Genesis consoles, and even knew a few people with Master Systems and Saturns...)

However, I now want one more than ever after learning about what it has to offer. Too bad that most of its best are imports and usually going for triple-digit figures on eBay...if only I wouldn't have to pay so much just to have Radiant Silvergun or Panzer Dragoon Saga (yes, I know that Azel: Panzer Dragoon RPG is much cheaper, but I don't understand Japanese) in addition to all the hardware to play it on.
I have one in a box in my closet. It used to belong too my Nephew. One day I might take it out and play some Darius Gaiden.
I played and remember more Saturn games than Playstation and N64 games combined. So my definition of forgettable most likely is very different from yours. The Saturn was the best at it's game, plain and simply. It was the best Arcade system, no other contemporany console compared to what the Saturn could do, and posterior more powerful consoles never did quite had the same developing interest or support for the main genres the Saturn covered. The Saturn also lasted 4 years: November 1994-1998. While it could certainly had lived longer, it's not like it had a short life-span neither.
I still have my Saturn but I haven't played it in a while.
I have a Saturn and I love it.However it is a misunderstood system. Most people think the system was barely any more powerful than both the Jaguar and 3DO yet the potential of it's processing power makes it actually more powerful than the Playstation. Games such as Panzer Dragoon Saga and Radiant Silvergun probably would've been impossible on any other system except the Saturn. The 4MB expansion it eventually got too made it the best system for 2D fighting game ports. Games such as Street Fighter Zero 3 were best on Saturn, that's right, best. The port of Zero 3 was so good that there were claims it was ever greater than the supposedly more powerful Dreamcast version. The only two reasons I can think of to why the Saturn failed were, one, because of Sega rushing the system out at a high price and with an unfinished array of titles. Two, the system was a bit of pain to program for properly. Some developers like Probe just used the best of one SH2 processor like in the Saturn version of Alien Trilogy it was that complicated to deal with. Still though, despite its complexities, we did see some awesome games out of the Saturn. Not long ago, I reviewed Virtua Fighter 2, an excellent conversion of the Model 2 arcade legend for Sega Saturn. I gave the game 9/10. My union, DreamON, features the Saturn on the homepage and in the topics from time to time, a testament to its greatness and I sill know a gang of people who love to play on their Saturns, even now, since it did do well in providing 2D titles that they would actually want to play. So, actually, it wasn't a bad system at all. If you find anyone who calls the Saturn a ''bad console'', they're just Sega haters, fanboys and/or very moronic.
[This message was deleted at the request of a moderator or administrator]
I never owned a saturn then, but I own two saturns now. It was hard for developers to devlop for which nixed it off early. It did though have some highly prized titles.
I just got Guardian Heroesand damn man, biggest let down ever if it weren't for those damn ''plains'' I'd love the game so much moreI just got a Saturn recently and it's decent alot of the 3D games haven't aged too well but it burns brightly in the 2D department which is why i got itI've rounded up all the US games I want and now I'm going to move onto the importsthat's where people say the good stuff is so we'll seePanzer will probably be gettin' a crap load of messages from me soo:D
I still have Saturn. I like several fighting games- X-Men Children of Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs Street Fighter, Marvel vs Street Fighter, others.I have about ten American games for Saturn. However, I have more than twenty import games for Saturn.

Yeah, it appeared the only people who bought the Saturn were the hardcore Sega fans. Its a shame that the really good and epic games on the system went unnoticed in the mainstream. Nights into Dreams and Panzer Dragoon were much more like cult-hit games that were obscure to the mainstream while games like Final Fantasy VII and Goldeneye was what everyone was playing at the time.
The one thing I will never forget about the Saturn were the ads where they always bashed the Playstation. Too bad the ''Plaything'' beat out the Saturn. I think that was one of the reasons why the Saturn failed in the U.S. Sega tried to make it look like the right system to buy and they didn't have enough AAA games to back it up...I understand that a lof of the Saturns best games are imports but in the US it was a differant story.
had, i do have a sega saturn only 3 games though, lol, id like to find more like duke nukem 3d also is on genesis id like to find that version to , lol,
ya on the side note, games for saturn costed more then n64s did, i did not see one 60 dollar game on n64 , i dont know how many did, they were eitherr shopping at wrong places or where they lived everythin costed double but ya saturn games still cost 20-30 dollars used lol,a xbox gc ps2 game at one of my pawns only cost 10 unless otherwise marked, n64s go for 6 so do dc and ps1s, saturn i have yet to see any lol, but in one in boise, theres saturn games not really good ones mind you, that cost 1999 if they costed 1999 imagine what duke nukem 3d cost would be lol,

Master System Or Saturn

Okay, so I've been eyeing Sega's older consoles, and I've come to the conclusion of either a Sega Master System or a Sega Saturn. So which should I get?Master System Or Saturn
Saturn is SEGA's best console, provided you have the ability to play games from all three regions. The Master System is outstanding as well, but it doesn't compare to the Saturn.Master System Or Saturn
You mean it can play all three regions? O_O I didn't know that. :P
The Saturn is great, but I prefer the Master System because I used to play it so much
You mean it can play all three regions? O_O I didn't know that. :P
it can't
If you're going to get a Sega system, the Genesis/Mega Drive is the way to go.
Sega Saturn fo' sho'
You could always just buy a Mega-Adapter and play Master System games on the Mega Drive.
You could always just buy a Mega-Adapter and play Master System games on the Mega Drive.
I'd recommend doing this too. Not only do you have access to more than double the amount of games but the controllers that come with the genesis/mega drive are also a lot better (I'm pretty sure you can use the genesis controllers with a master system console either way though).

You mean it can play all three regions? O_O I didn't know that. :P
it can't
It can... if you have an Action Replay 4-in-1 cartridge, that is. I'd say go for the Saturn. The Master System also was a good system, but it truly isn't Sega's best and is fairly lacking when it comes to game selection. Or, like others have said, if you have a Genesis/Mega Drive and you really want to play Master System games, just get the official adaptor to play SMS games on an MD/GEN.
I like Saturn because it has several fighting games, and RPGs. SMS has good games.
I would take the dreamcast over either
I would take the dreamcast over either
Not I. Even as an ever-devoted Dreamcast fan, I firmly believe that the DC was SEGA's worst home console. It was better than the Game Gear, 32X, and SEGA CD. But the Master System, Genesis, and Saturn just have much better libraries in my opinion.
[This message was deleted at the request of a moderator or administrator]
If you have to decide between those two, I'd recommend buying the Saturn. You have to take into consideration, however, that a lot of the great Saturn games are difficult to find and cost a lot of money (50$ and upwards). The Master System games are much more readily available and cheaper. The Saturn has some of the best games ever released on a Sega console, though. It's a tough decision. I'd personally advise you to get both... :P
Buy a Saturn.SEGA rally, wipeout 2097,croc 3d,pandemonium,virtua fighter 2,mortal kombat trilogy, virtual cop etc.the games on saturn are FAR better.Although alex kid is one of my all time favorites.
Master System rules!!! Alex Kidd, Penguin Land, Wonder Boy in Monster Land, Phantasy Star... one of the best consoles ever
Okay, so I've been eyeing Sega's older consoles, and I've come to the conclusion of either a Sega Master System or a Sega Saturn. So which should I get?
Saturn. The Master System is way too boring.

• ps2 Ring of red

dude anyone played this game B4 i saw the vids and looks awesome, just wondering where can i buy old games for the ps2 use or new i don;t care, and buying online, is hard for me, so is this a great game to put my effort in looking for itps2 Ring of red
I have played it, the game is kind of like a strategy RPG though a lot deeper then most. It's pretty good though some of the history sections are really dull. Worth playing though. As for where to get it? Online is your best bet really, like ebay maybe? though you said thats difficult for you :( ps2 Ring of red
Its not worth it. Its extremely clunky and boring. You drive a mech and you have to shoot at other mechs but your targeter bounces around like crazy and you have to try and time your shots perfectly so that you actually hit the other guy. Its not like armored core though where the mechs are racing around and flying through the air. No you are both just standing pretty much in place just trying to make the crosshairs stop moving lol. I think you move closer or farther away to get in the right range or something.

I did not bother finishing that game because it was just dumb. Stick with Armored Core, R.A.D. , Front Mission and Steambot Chronicles for your giant robot needs.
Ah. Yeah I dont think you even get to control the crosshairs. Its just about pressing the button at the right time. I wouldnt spend more than 10$ in trying to get that game.

This is from the tutorial(dont know if this is the clip you watched). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsnVtEZIMR4%26feature=related
You can kinda tell from that video but both mechs are doing things at the same time. Its totally possable to get shot while your waiting for your crosshair to zoom in. You cant just sit there and wait for the perfect shot.
so that means it not worth getting then huh!, but i just love cell shade games
Oh thought your PS2 got Red Ring of Death... XD
Ring of Red is definitely worth getting. Oh..RoR isn't cel-shaded btw.
is it not a rts?
lol No. its more of like an interactive tactical rpg. You move your ''mechs'' around on a grid and when two mechs fight then its just a matter of moving forwards and backwards and then trying to wait for the crosshairs to stop shaking enough for you to get off a shot accurately. Its nothing like command and conquer where you build buildings, gather resources, and control armies of units.
Hey Abbandon, I think you completely missed the point of the game.Ring of Red is meant to be a SRPG like Final Fantasy Tactics/Fire Emblem/Disgaea etc. The actual combat is just the game's battle system and is a small part of the game as a whole. As far as SRPGs go, it's pretty decent, although it gets extremely repetitive later on. Just don't expect it to play like Armored Core, that's just dumb.
Ring of Red eh?
I hope your not implying that I said it should play like armored core because that would be really idiotic.
its an rts even gamespot says it.
oh well if they say it then it must be true. ignore what someone who has actually played it says. an RTS is command and conquer, age of empires, starcraft. If you thinks that what this game plays like then you should seek immediate medical attention...at a psyche ward.

Hottest PS1 Game?

So we were having this conversation at school the other day. What are the hottest PS1 games? I don't want this topic to get shut down for Terms of Service abuse so keep keep the language to just game titles. But seriously, I'm a dude and I wanna know the sexiest, hottest, most gratuitous games available for PS1, in all their 32-bit, pixelated, polygonal glory. Hottest PS1 Game?
Never played it but I think fear effect 2 is a contender.Hottest PS1 Game?
For me, it had to be Streetfighter II ex + Alpha. I played that game for so long, %26 so hard, it altered the shape of my left thumb! :o
Tomb Raider
Dead Or Alive 2 and the bouncing of objects ;)
I'd have to say the Fear Effect series.
Ahhh, the mammories. I mean memories. Whoops....
For me, it had to be Streetfighter II ex + Alpha. I played that game for so long, %26 so hard, it altered the shape of my left thumb! :o
omg dude that game rocked for me as well!! :) I spent soo many hours going through the combo challenges!! :D
Soul Blade (predecessor to Soul Calibur) had some serious fan service. Starts in the game's intro and continues into the gameplay. I'm sure I lost some matches against Sophitia and Taki from distraction alone.
For me it was MGS, the best looking game on the PS1.
Metal Gear Solid and FF VII

What is the name of this PS2 Game?

I once played a demo of a PS2 game where you fly around as a jet and then transform into a robot on the ground. The demo level was like an island where there was a tank/aircraft carrier thing where little people ran out and started shooting you. There were some ships that you had to shoot down while in plane form and then you had to destroy some buildings and a plane or something as the robot/mech. It was released around the time the demo for the game called XXI or something like that and also around the time the demos for i-Ninja and Starsky and Hutch were released for Official PS2 Magazine Australia I think it was. Please help me find out the name of this game. NO IT'S NOT TRANSFORMERS! :DWhat is the name of this PS2 Game?
my guess is robotech? http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/robotechbattlecry/What is the name of this PS2 Game?

I was going to say this as well. From your description, I can't think of any other game besides Battle Engine Aquila. The only other remote possibility I could think of would be Robotech.
Battle Engine Aquila. Came with my demo disc with my first PS2.
indeed, that game was very impressive for the large scale combat going on, too bad they made the player too omnipotent and the army beyond hopeless.

That you so much!!! It is Battle Engine Aquilla. I looked on wikipedia and it's the game that I'm looking for. Than you everyone who tried to help!

Question about buying a GBSP

Hey GameSpotters, Recently i came to the conclusion that I absolutely hate playing GBA games on the DS (something about using only one screen on the unit + having all the excess there annoys me)I don't want a Gameboy Micro because its too small for my liking. So I decided I am going to get a GBSP, however I want a GBSP that has the new and improved backlit screen. I was searching online everywhere to find one but they seem pretty difficult to find / or are priced way too high for my liking.I was wondering tough if there is any way tell right off the bat if a unit does infact come with the newer brighter screen. Any help would be appreciated!Question about buying a GBSP
there is some serial number that can identify it, i was just like u a month or 2 ago, I wanted to brighter lit model as well but could not find it anywhere. People working in stores have no idea there was a brighter one lol, even on amazon I did not see any. And dont worry the normal gbasp is still great and has enough light in my opinion.

Nintendo 64 Question

What's the difference between controller paks and expansion paks? Aren't they both just memory? Also, I don't remember because I was really young, but didn't most games just save themselves without the need of an expansion or controller pak?Nintendo 64 Question
some of the games need the expansion pack to be able to play, like Perfect Dark and Starcraft. And the memory cards you pop into the back the controller so the game will save on there so you can use the saved files on another system.Nintendo 64 Question
Ok I understand. Is there any way you can find out which games need an expansion pak?

Here's a list.
well expansion packs added another 4 mb to the system memory, nothing to do with saving, it let games like perfect dark dk64 zelda etc able to play,or have more features and make the textures of any game slightly better, the memory card is used for many third party games, like turok 1 -rwtop gear seriesroadsters etc ,i dont think many first or 2nd party games required one , but one in perfect dark can be used to copy profiles to another game pak or allow you to carry to another friends h ouse without having your game, i used it a few times for example when one of my copies of pd 64-i have 3 got corrupt i always have 2 spare files plus the one in my memory card , so i never lose my main file, but thats the differencethe expansion goes in the front of the console near where you put a cartridge in theres a compartment, it goes there, originally it came or comes with a black jumper pack , but the expansion p ack-red top was required for dk64 it came bundled with early release copies or was sold seperately there was also 3rd party ones, perfect dark is another one youll need a expnsion pack for mission mode etc , so ya
I have another question: what does an N64 sound like when it's running. When I plug mine in, it makes absolutely no noise, and it isn't working correctly. The red light turns on, but no picture or anything. I'm not sure it's the cable (just ordered a new one), so excluding the cable, are there other things that could not allow it to work? Is it possible that I have a bad jumper pak? Thanks
ok then but what's the difference between them? Need Help Finding PS2 game!!!

I need help remembering the name of a PS2 game. I will try and describe it as best I can. The main character was like a huge samoan dude who had a large sword and always had an eagle hovering above him. I think he could see through the eagle's eyes to spot surrounding enemies. I remember it was a very brutal game. The guy could chop people in half. I've gone through the GameSpot archive and I cant find it. I think it started with a K but Im not sure. It really reminded me of God of War, though it did come out before God of War. Someone please help, Im going crazy!Need Help Finding PS2 game!!!
Never Mind I found it. It was mark of kri!Need Help Finding PS2 game!!!
doesnt play anything like god of war. They came out with a sequel. Rise of the Kesai. That dude is older and you also get to fight using his little sister who is now ''all grown up'' (jailbait). Its not really a huge improvement but if you like the first you will enjoy the second. new stealth kills!!

I like the series mostly. Towards the end all the crap soldiers are wearing armor and frontal attacks arent as fun. Some of the arena battles are really hard also. You get the option to use a bunch of different weapons but it was hard learning new weapons timing and stuff.

But yeah I love the beastmaster quality, the stealth kills, and the innovative targeting system, cool unlockables. I just dont think there is very much replay value there, it needed a litle something extra like survivor mode played on maps so you could just get swamped by bad guys no matter where you were on a map.

SNES/ Super Mario RPG help

I got this game off of eBay a few days ago, and it won't work on my NTSC SNES. The guy said that it was an NTSC game, but it seems that it has been modded to have a different chip, so that it would work on a PAL SNES.Is there anything I could do that's not too risky, to make it work on my NTSC SNES?SNES/ Super Mario RPG help
a picture would help. The cartridges are different on the regionSNES/ Super Mario RPG help
umm... the ntsc snes games don't look anything like the pal versions. you would be able to tell immediately. modding a single game is stupid, you can buy a converter that will allow you to play any/all famicom and pal games on your ntsc snes for a reasonable fee.if you bought this from someone on ebay and it was stated that it was in working condition and it isn't... senditback.

DnD: Warriors of The Eternal Sun

Anyone play this awesome RPG game for the Sega Genesis? It was so addicting when i rented it that i ended up buying it from the blockbuster the same week.I loved the game especially when you are in the cave areas. There were so many secret walls you could go through and be heavily rewarded for your explorations. The music was so good and memorable! DnD: Warriors of The Eternal Sun
Dude! I used to play this game back in the day. I never did manage to beat the game. I believe that I was very near the end. The cave was full of level-draining undead and I just couldn't get through it, I got ripped apart. Great game, definatly filled the that much needed (for the Genesis) RPG fix. DnD: Warriors of The Eternal Sun
Its in my favorite games for sega(thats under the NES link). I didnt own a sega at the time and had rented a console. I didnt come anywhere near beating it but I had a really fun time with it.

My local gamestop actually still has them new for 3 dollars each.

Retro console - ideas?

Hey allI have recently tried the Duke Nukem 3D and Mega Man 9 games available on Xbox Live Arcade. I found the games quite enjoyable and it got me thinking. I am wandering wheter or not to get a retro console such as a Super Nintendo or Sega Saturn so I can enjoy some of these older titles and others. I am a bit of a graphics man so I like the games to look sharp like they do in high definition so that is something I need to consider along with games available for the consoles.I am looking for your suggestions on consoles and games I should try, I did have a PS1 and Nintendo 64 but sold them but would consider getting a PS2 maybe if there are good retro compliations to try on that.Thank youRetro console - ideas?
A majority of the retro comps will be rereleased versions of arcade games like pac man, galaga and the like. If you have particular tastes you might be better suited just using what you can get off XBL. If you indeed want a retro console you cant go wrong with the NES or super NES. Both are affordable and relatively easy to find. Buying an atari falls pretty much under the collectors only section. Most of the games worth playing are already on either PS1 comps or some form of digital download. With that said, i have at least a few ''must have'' games on every console i own so in that respect you just need to look at the library of games on any particular system and then see if there are enough to warrant purchasing the system or if most of them are available elsewhere. As for the genesis in particular, i personally couldnt stand NOT owning one. Its subjective i guess but there are several games that i absolutely loved that i know will never get an XBL release so original remains the only option when it comes to playing them. The SNES is filled with so many great games like: Mega Man X series, Castlevania series, Super Mario 1 %26 2, Wolfenstien 3d, Doom, Donkey Kong series, and many many more.
Based on your needs, the 8 bit and 16 bit consoles would be a great fit. Anything older that is more for collectors. I would recommend a Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis or NES in that order. If you dropped $80-$100, you could get yourself a nice collection of must have games and a reliable console. Most PS1, Saturn and N64 games don't look good blown up on a HD TV.I would also recommend a PS1, but why not get a PS2 to triple the library of available games while your at it? It is a slippery slope.
I shall see, I think I may stick with the Xbox 360 as it will be easier to get hold of games. A PS2 is tempting but I traded my old one in so it would be daft to rebuy it.
If you do decide to get a retro console you probably would be best off with a SNES, simply because for classic RPG's and platformers, there is no better system out there IMO (possibly PS1 for RPG's, but that's debatable, depending on what kinds of RPG's you like). However, you said you were a stickler for graphics; even if you get a newer console with arcade or classic compilations, they most likely will not be graphically updated. In other words, they will look the same as on an older console, and the controllers for the new console may not work quite as well or as responsively with the game as the originals would. Sorry if I'm insulting your intelligence, I just thought I'd point it out, just in case.BTW, I recently purchased an old SNES after playing a lot of the classic games on my PC (from unnamed sources:D ), and now I want to play all of them again. Nothing beats playing the game on the original machine, with the original controller, in all of its 16-bit glory :) . Good luck, and happy gaming!

Which Pokemon game to get? (gba/gbc)

Hello, I'm thinking of getting a Pokemon game, but I'm not sure which one to get. I'm not looking for anything specific, just tell me your favorite pokemon game, and why.Which Pokemon game to get? (gba/gbc)
I would bypass all the handheld pokemons and just get Pokemon Snap for the n64. It is my favorite pokemon game other than Pokemon Pearl. As for the GBA and GBC I guess I would say pokemon red or blue would be my favorite. Which Pokemon game to get? (gba/gbc)
I would probably go with Crystal
just get yourself either red, blue or yellow or if you want some color just buy crystal
Crystal for GBC and Esmerald for GBA
My favs were the first series (red, blue.....)

[EDIT] you also get the awesome glitches :P
I enjoyed Pearl the best because of all the Pokemon you can get, also with how long it takes. However, Crystal comes in a close second with the ability to get 16 badges from Kanto and Johto.
Pokemon Gold/Silver is pretty much the only Pokemon game you need.
GBC- Pokemon CrystalGBA- Pokemon Emerald, if you are beginner, then you should get either Leaf Green, or Fire Red.
GoldSO much more depth than ALL the other Pokemonthe phone system, the two areas/continents to exploreThe day/night system plus the pokemon are the best, they still don't top the original 151 but you can trade all the original 151 easily so you can start the game with squirtle, charmander or bulbasaur as well as one of the other new starter pokemonI never played the expanded versions (yellow, crystal, emerald), but it's probably better because it has somewhat of a different story (I think) and if Crystal is like Yellow you'll eventualy be able to get all three starter pokemon from gold/silver without having to trade with your friends
just get yourself either red, blue or yellow or if you want some color just buy crystal
yellow cause pikachu follows you
Yellow, Crystal and Emerald...none should be to expencive save for emerald, and all three are worth it
The Gold/Silver/Crystal games on GBC are amazing. Definitely my favorites.
Yellow, Crystal and Emerald...none should be to expencive save for emerald, and all three are worth it
Actually it would probably be more expensive and harder to find an older Pokemon game. I can personally say Emerald is the best GBA pokemon game. But I think that Crystal is better if you can tolerate graphics. As you can go to Johto and Kanto to get all 16 badges. I never had a chance to get Crystal because I did not have a Gameboy back then so my opinion is based on what other people have said.
I would get the gameboy advance maybe the emerald since its a upgrade from ruby and sapphire. The gameboy coler ones are just to short

I had a lot of fun with Pokemon Yellow
Pokemon Crystal, it has such great gameplay and some extra things that Gold/Silver don't have.

I never suspected you of being a Star Control fan to some degree...the question now is ''Have you played the sequel?'' It plays a lot more like Starflight, which you are probably familiar with since it received a remake on the MD/Genesis that plays very differently from the original home computer versions, but is still very much a space adventure and exploration game. However, it only officially had an IBM PC DOS release with a 3DO port a few years later, the latter being the basis of a freeware source port. (Yes, that's LEGAL freeware, though to keep it legal, they had to strip ''Star Control II'' from the title, leaving the subtitle ''The Ur-Quan Masters''.)

Anyway, I've never played the original, though I've thought about giving it a try. (My foray into the franchise was UQM 0.4.0 about a few years back.) The issue here is that I don't think it's been made legal freeware like its successor has, leaving me only questionable methods to play it.

I'd normally suggest for you to download and play it when you have the time, but I now remember that you're on a 56k connection, and this game can take up 141 MB or so if you opt for the voiceovers and whatnot. While it could be worse, it'll probably take a while for it to trickle on your computer.

It'll be worth it, though. I still have yet to play a game that has more charming characters/races than Star Control II (though it could just be that I'm not playing the right ones). Some will make you laugh (particularly those pictured in my avatar), others will make you cringe at their overall emo-ness, and still others will explain exactly why they go about subduing/exterminating other sentient species. (Seriously, the Ur-Quan are the ONLY antagonists I've almost pitied in a game. Almost.)

Almost.)
Yeah, I can't download a file that big. Maybe if it was split in two or three parts I would be able to do so.I could get someone to download it for me though. But now we come to the problem of configure it to work well on my PC, which I guess it would be quite a hassle for someone not very PC-savvy. I could never get Sorcerian and Princess Crown 2 to run well on my PC.Princess Crown 2 ran good on my old PC but now I don't get sound and it runs slower.Have you played Princess Crown 2 BTW? I did a blog post about the series, you should read it if you're interested in the series. Prncess Crown 2 is freeware, and I highly recommend it.
On Genesis!/? I remember it on 3DO.

I didn't know there was even a Princess Crown 2, let alone it being a PC game and freeware! Sounds like a fan remake/sequel. I can't find it anywhere in your blog, though, just the one Princess Crown on Saturn (and PSP much later) that I do know about. (Now, if they'd just bring the PSP version over here nice and translated...)

You're undoubtedly thinking of Star Control II.

The original and the sequel are very different games, though the ''melee'' battles are largely the same. The former is more of a strategy game, while the latter is more about exploring the space around you and meeting aliens as you find a way to get that slaveshield off your homeworld.

I don't know what I was on, maybe it was just late... >_> What I meant was Princess Maker 2 a highly addicitive and fun simulator by studio Gainax. Princess Crown 2 on the PC is the only existent *would have been official* English version of the game. But the game itself was never officially released although it was around 95% finished. Mainly because it was highly critisized by various action groups that considered it highly sexists and offensive towards women in their western-based point of view.In Asia the Princess Maker series is one of the most popular and long-lasting gaming series though. Princess Maker 2 alone was porter over to more than 11 different gaming systems! making it one of the most ported Japanese games in history.

Must have been another case of region name confusion. I take it that you were referring to what was going to be the English title, at least until it got canned?

(It seems like this hypothetical situation of mine where an American or European and a Japanese person meet, and then they talk about games. The Japanese guy starts talking about Bust-A-Move, but the Westerner goes ''No, that's Bust-A-Groove. This is Bust-A-Move.'' Upon seeing the game, though, the Japanese guy responds ''No, that's Puzzle Bobble.'' It's bad enough that games will have different titles in different regions, but when a given title is used in two different regions to represent two totally different games...)

I could have the chance to get:-Super Mario Sunshine-Metroid Prime-Zelda;Wind Waker-Original gamecube controller(Official)-Memory Card.How much should i offer for this? Price;

The guy's asking 50$ with that and his Gamecube(+cables). So,if he wants for 30$,i'm totally ripping him off? =D
50 dollar to 60 dolliares peace from the insane reviewer.
Let's see how much these items go for at Gamestop used:Super Mario Sunshine: $16.99
Metroid Prime: $6.99
Zelda: The Wind Waker: $17.99
Used Gamecube with 1 controller: $29.99
