If you've never played red/blue/yellow before, get FireRed or LeafGreen. Otherwise get Emerald.

(Firered,LeafGreen and Emerald)[/QUOTE]fire red and leaf green are remakes of the original red and blue gbc games, they are the same games with only a few different pokemon that you can't catch,but you can get them trading with someone that has the other version(there are other methods but that is the basic idea)in the case of ruby,Sapphire and emerald happens the same except that there are a few other differences like the villains are different from one version to another, emerald is the ''3rd'' game that has a few new thing but you need to trade with someone that has ruby and Sapphire to get them all.get all the pokemon is not something that important it's only a detail for people that can't get enough after ending a game. all pokemon games are ''light'' rpgs with a lot of possibilities to customize and explore and a storyline that is simple but makes this games worth to play.
