Why were there no new Mario games for GB ...

I know that there are ports aplenty on the GBA, but why where there no original games? Was Nintendo just too busy porting the NES/SNES Mario games to make a new one?Why were there no new Mario games for GB ...

I would've liked a new Super Mario Land, but Nintendo never made one.
I...really don't know. They had Mario sports games, a Mario party game on the GBA, and also a Mario RPG on it (Mario %26 Luigi Superstar Saga). Yet they never made a new Mario platformer, though...which is unfortunate.
Well, they are pretty busy dealing with other Mario Franchises such as sport games and such.When they will get around to make new Mario games we will never know. I hope that one day they will think about it.

I will try to play Mario vs Donkey Kong. I played Mario vs Donkey Kong 2 on DS demo at Best Buy store. It reminded of Lemmings than Mario platformer.
The original Mario vs Donkey Kong was very different to the second one. It was probably the closest thing there was to a new mario platformer on the GBA, but it was really more a puzzle game than a true platformer.
